Pacific Daydream will be Weezer's 11th (!) album, continuing Rivers Cuomo and company's alt-rock legacy that extends all the way back to 1994's pop-rock gem The Blue Album and 1996's emo-igniting Pinkerton.

A track list for the new record is reportedly forthcoming but fans have been jamming on the album's current single, “Feels Like Summer” since it dropped back in March (just in time for summertime festivities). Now, we can all rock out with our Baja California-produced electric guitars on “Mexican Fender”!

Weezer's most recent album effort was The White Album (which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album), and Cuomo apparently intended to follow it up with a darkness-tinged “Black Album.”

However, the band changed course to a more sunny and supposedly beach-oriented sound when the Weezer mastermind came upon a Chinese proverb that he says inspired the design behind the forthcoming record:

“Once upon a time, I, Chuang Chou, dreamt I was a butterfly, fluttering hither and thither, to all intents and purposes a butterfly. I was conscious only of my happiness as a butterfly, unaware that I was Chou. Soon I awaked, and there I was, veritably myself again. Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man.”

Hmm… “Butterfly,” eh? Sounds familiar!
