Wendy’s has proved time and time again that they’re determined to stay on top of the fast-food game. Whether they’re roasting our favorite bands, bringing back the delicious spicy nuggets, or going head-to-head with Popeyes in a chicken sandwich war, Wendy’s is here to be both savage and satisfying.
Now, it looks like the most important meal of the day will be rolling out to all U.S. Wendy’s locations in 2020.
Today, the major chain announced they would be adding breakfast items to their menu in a $20 million menu revamp.
“Launching breakfast in our US restaurants nationwide provides incredible growth opportunities,” Wendy’s CEO Todd Penegor said in a statement. “We are well-positioned to pursue it. We believe we have the right team and structure in place, and we put Wendy’s fan favorites on our breakfast menu to set us apart from the competition.”
The breakfast menu will include three items:
- The Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich: Fried chicken and whipped honey butter on a biscuit.
- The Breakfast Baconator: An egg, six strips of Applewood smoked bacon, a breakfast sausage patty, two slices of American cheese, and swiss cheese hollandaise sauce on a bun.
- The Frosty-ccino: Cold-brew coffee mixed with either chocolate or vanilla Frosty cream.
Currently, Wendy’s breakfast is available in 300 test markets and is slated to become available nationwide in 2020.
However, this isn’t the first time the food chain has attempted to roll out a breakfast menu. They’ve made several attempts over the last decade, with each of them fizzling out over time.
