Publication explains who Gerard Way is, MCR fans basically explode

This poor publication tried to explain who Gerard Way was to their readership. Of course, we all know where The Umbrella Academy writer hails from (he’s the frontman of My Chemical Romance, one of the biggest rock bands of the 2000s, if it’s your first time here). However it appears as though Metro may have missed the memo.

In an attempt to educate readers on the comic’s creator, they titled their piece, “Who is Gerard Way, who wrote The Umbrella Academy comic books?”

Unfortunately for them, the article has amassed an army of angry MCR fans, truly hurt by their ignorance.

Of course, for seasoned MCR fans, the headline comes as a surprise. However, we must remember that all new MCR or Umbrella Academy fans are welcome, regardless of their prior expertise with the band.

Recently, Way’s show made its Netflix debut. The Umbrella Academy is streaming now. You can watch the trailer for the series below.

Way recently revealed that he wrote much of The Umbrella Academy while on the road. Additionally, he explained the wholesome concept behind the series.

The series also paid homage to the comic’s writer by including an adorable Easter egg during its first episode.

In other MCR-related news, Gerard Way isn’t too fond of the idea of a reunion. In a story with the Guardian, Way says that a reunion just isn’t in the cards right now.

“We definitely get offers regularly to reunite — it’s a constant thing,” Way says “It’s flattering, it’s really nice of people. I miss playing with the guys, but I don’t think so.”

“When things start to succeed and go really well, that’s when a lot of people start to have an opinion and that’s when you run into struggle,” Way continues. “Everybody had a fucking opinion about what MCR should be. So it made it difficult to figure out what direction to take next. You get caught up in this trap of ‘Is it ever gonna be good enough? It wasn’t fun to make stuff anymore. I think breaking up the band broke us out of that machine.”
