Gal Gadot will star in the highly anticipated film, which also features Kristen Wiig as the Cheetah, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor and Pedro Pascal.

Director Patty Jenkins shared a first look at the sequel a couple months ago, giving out a  clue of what happened to Diana’s boyfriend.

“Welcome to WONDER WOMAN 1984, Steve Trevor!” Jenkins wrote in a tweet at the time.

Wonder Woman 1984 was set to hit theaters November 1, 2019. However, plans have changed and now the sequel has been pushed back to June 5, 2020.

Entertainment Weekly shared a statement by Warner Bros., which explains that the “move lands the film exactly where it belongs.”

“We had tremendous success releasing the first Wonder Woman film during the summer,” Warner Bros. explains. “So when we saw an opportunity to take advantage of the changing competitive landscape, we did.”

Gadot also commented the move on Twitter.

“Super excited to announce that, thanks to the changing landscape, we are able to put Wonder Woman back to its rightful home,” she writes. “June 5, 2020. Be there or be square!!!”

Per EW, here’s the official movie description: “Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing an all-new foe: The Cheetah”
