Wonder Woman praising Captain Marvel is true superhero solidarity
Captain Marvel soared past internet trolls to snag the title of the biggest-ever opening weekend for a female-fronted film. The film’s star Brie Larson as already received incredible praise from many, including fellow Marvel star Chris Evans (Captain America). Now, badass Gal Gadot, who plays the infamous Wonder Woman, has offered her congrats to her fellow female superhero.

Taking the biggest female-fronted opening weekend title from Wonder Woman and Beauty and the Beast, Captain Marvel is now also the second-largest opening weekend for any superhero film behind Avengers: Infinity War at $640.5 million.
While fans were quick to compare the film to Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot was quick to show that this moment required support and celebration.
“I’m so happy for you sister! Congrats,” Gadot wrote on her Instagram story, sharing some fan-art created by Maxy Artwork of the two superheros arm-in-arm.
We love legends supporting legends.
The artist of the adorable piece was just as touched by Gadot’s supportive message.
“Um hi so gal gadot wonder woman herself posted my art on her ig stories to support brie larson’s captain marvel. i can’t put into words how incredible happy i am not only for it being my art but for them supporting each other. i make this kind of art to bring women together and show how important female leads are for us. thank you? The box office success of the film comes after Captain Marvel was bashed by trolls on Rotten Tomatoes before it even came out. However, the film’s rating is steadily rising from the online hate and getting a better rating. Critics have boasted rave reviews in regards to the film despite the online hate.
While it’s obvious this is the studio’s first female-led superhero film, women are also making waves behind the scenes. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are co-directing, and Boden is Marvel’s first female directors.
