Woodstock 50 thanks fans for support, confirms intentions to hold festival

The future of Woodstock 50 may still be unclear, but that didn’t stop the festival from taking to Instagram to thank fans for their continued support throughout this emotional rollercoaster.

After the festival was allegedly canceled by investors, Woodstock co-founder Michael Lang pushed back against the claims stating that the investor did “not have the right to unilaterally cancel the festival.”

Sources “with direct knowledge” tell TMZ that the investor, Dentsu Aegis Network, pulled after receiving word that the venue’s capacity shrunk by 50 percent.

Amplifi Live, the investment part of Dentsu, reportedly needed a minimum of 100,000 attendees “to make a go of it”. A large part of the land needed to be used as campgrounds for concert goers, thus bringing the venue capacity from 150,000 to 75,000, according to Watkins Glen City Officials.

So Dentsu pulled the plug.

Lang stated Woodstock 50 could be saved as long as they snagged another investor.

Lang’s attorney, Marc Kasowitz, tells TMZ, “Woodstock 50 is proceeding with the planning and production of the festival. Dentsu has no legal right or ability to cancel it. All stakeholders, including the entertainers, should proceed with the understanding that the event will take place as planned and if they have any questions, they should reach out directly.”

Last night, Woodstock 50 took to Instagram to thank those who have continued to support the festival throughout the rumors, sharing a few positive comments while showing appreciation for the “Woodstock Nation.”

“Thank you Woodstock Nation! To the more than 100,000 of you who have responded to our situation with support and solidarity… a heartfelt ‘thank you’. Our intention holds firm. To deliver a world-class, once-in-a-lifetime festival to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock. To honor a cultural icon that changed the way we think about music and togetherness… and will do so again. We’re in this together, as reflected by your words of support.”

Recently, Woodstock 50 allegedly hired Donald Trump’s lawyer to pursue action against Dentsu.

According to Consequence Of Sound, Woodstock co-founder Michael Lang has sought after Marc E. Kasowitz to counter Dentsu Aegis Network’s initial announcement to cancel the festival. Kasowitz is currently representing Trump in his Russia investigation.
