Taken from the underrated youth EP, the video follows the equally as cinematic “hope for the underrated youth” video that dropped last month.
“original me” features both vocalists playing off each other’s energy in a deserted junkyard. Taking an unexpected turn, YUNGBLUD and Reynolds continue to cheat death, offering up the perfect metaphor for getting back up every time you’re knocked down.
Filmed in Las Vegas, the video was directed by award-winning filmmaker Jordan Bahat, who previously worked with twenty one pilots on “Holding On To You.” The director also has credits with Meg Myers (“Desire”) and fun. (“Why Am I The One”).
Summing up the video in the best way possible, YUNGBLUD explained it was “fucking bonkers” ahead of release along with the announcement he’d be heading to Times Square.
The musician hit Times Square after wrapping up a stop at TRL’s Fresh Out Fridays with host Kevan Kenney. Surrounded by fans, YUNGBLUD watched as his new video with Reynolds broadcast on the MTV video board outside of the Viacom offices.
In true Dom fashion, he crowdsurfed his way through the gathering, which you can see below.
ya’ll made me crowd surf in time square … im defs in trouble 😂 pic.twitter.com/3NzObvYLXx
