See what YUNGBLUD can do with $100 and an idea in his “Weird!” video

YUNGBLUD has been keeping himself and us busy with a swath of content during the coronavirus pandemic. He’s given us two episodes of The YUNGBLUD Show and shared plenty of covers and collaborations including Sublime and Oasis with Machine Gun Kelly. Oh yeah, he also dropped a single titled “Weird!” from his forthcoming sophomore album.

If that wasn’t enough, the Doncaster-rocker just released the music video for “Weird!” as well as premiered the first episode of his new show “Stay Home With: YUNGBLUD.”

YUNGBLUD dropped the pop-infused anthem “Weird!” just last week. The lyrics seem to point heavily to feelings of the current pandemic, however, YUNGBLUD actually penned the song after his Brixton Academy performance last year. He described the song and his album to AltPress as being about coming of age.

“Coming of age doesn’t mean growing up to me,” YUNGBLUD shared. “You can come of age at 87. That’s the whole thing I want to speak about with this album. You are continually [growing] throughout your life. The meaning of life, to me, is to figure out who you are. Maybe that will change many times. I just want this single and this album to amplify that no matter how weird things get, it’s all gonna be alright in the end as long as we stay together.”

The new music video for the track was shot for under $100 by YUNGBLUD and his quarantine buddies. It shows YUNGBLUD doing all the things that we’ve all been doing during the quarantine; looking in the fridge, laying in bed and trying to put on a happy face amongst other things.

“Right now, everybody is trapped within four walls trying to figure out what the fuck is going on,” YUNGBLUD said. “Currently, I’m trapped in LA with my best friends. We made this for $100 and this might be my favorite video we’ve ever made. I think you can see the happiness from it coming out of the screen.”

In addition to the “Weird!” video, YUNGBLUD also partnered with YouTube Originals for the series “Stay Home With: YUNGBLUD.”

The new series will air every Monday and follows the adventures (if you want to call life in quarantine that) of YUNGBLUD and his four quarantine mates. It documents one month at their rental apartment in Los Angeles, CA.

In the first episode, YUNGBLUD does all manner of things from building a pillow fort and getting his hair cut to shooting the music video for “Weird!” Watch the quarantine hijinks below.

“Stay Home With: YUNGBLUD” is also raising money for the organization No Kid Hungry. No Kid Hungry does exactly what their name implies through school and after school meal programs, as well as providing food skills education and seeking to end poverty and hunger through policy change.
