Nickelback sales, streams of “Photograph” spike after Donald Trump tweet
Following the removal of the tweet due to copyright infringement, it appears that Nickelback have pulled off another win as Billboard reports a spike in their streaming numbers following the incident.
It all began when Trump took to Twitter to share a clip of Nickelback’s 2005 music video for “Photograph.”
Digging up an image of Biden and his son with a Ukrainian gas executive, Trump and his team superimposed the image into a clip of the music video.
According to Consequence of Sound, the Ukrainian gas executive is actually just a longtime business partner of Biden’s son Hunter.
The next morning, the video was pulled down by Twitter.
"The song earned 772,000 on-demand streams (audio and video combined) on Oct. 2-3, a 38% gain from the 558,000 it collected on Sept. 30-Oct. 1."
"Digital download sales of “Photograph” on Oct. 2-3 were up 569% over the previous two days. In total for the week ending Oct. 3, the song garnered 1,000 downloads."
