Nintendo will pay up to $20,000 if you can hack the Switch and 3DS

Nintendo’s goal is to provide a safe and secure environment for its customers, and they’re rewarding said customers anywhere from $100 to $20,000 for identifying bugs and vulnerabilities, according to their posting on HackerOne.

They are looking for anything involving piracy, cheating and distribution of inappropriate content to users, and the first reporter of qualifying vulnerability information will be rewarded somewhere between $100 to $20,000.

In their listing, Nintendo is not looking for information regarding the vulnerability of any other Nintendo platforms or services. They’ll also be determining at its discretion whether the vulnerability information submitted qualifies for an award, and if so, what amount.

In case you were wondering, in general, “the importance of the information is higher if the vulnerability is severe, easy-to-exploit, etc.” A report is said to be high quality if you show the vulnerability is exploitable.

Even if you don’t have full proof of concept behind the hack, they still encourage you to step forward with what you've found. You can still receive your reward as long as you submit a proof of concept no later than three weeks after your initial report.
