Oh, Weatherly vocalist announces band’s breakup with heartfelt post

Oh, Weatherly vocalist Blake Roses has taken to the band’s social media accounts to announce their breakup. Opening up about the “hardest decision [he’s] ever made,” Roses cites a lack of passion, revealing his “heart has not been in Oh, Weatherly for a long time.”

The band account shared the statement with the caption, “Love you all. Thank you for this journey.” After confusion in the comments, they clarified with more context for the note, writing, “Update: To clarify, Oh, Weatherly will not be moving forward as a band. Thanks ❤️”

Hello all, you’re about to read the hardest decision I have ever made. I could type forever and still would not be able to say everything I want to say. If you know me personally, you probably know that my heart has not been in Oh, Weatherly for a long time. I haven’t been happy and I feel like I’m living in a box that society has built around me. I have nothing but love for all of the OHW boys, but it is time that I make a decision for my own mental health.

I’ve been hiding from this change for too long now because I didn’t want to let you all (and the band) down. This band was created with pure passion and intentions of making a difference. I want you all to know I meant every word and felt every second of each song. This will always remain in my heart, but in the past couple months, I have tried to force myself to write sounds that “sound like Oh, Weatherly” and you can hear the lack of passion in my voice.

I am so thankful to have been able to make an impact through this band, but I believe it’s time I move on separately. I truly believe we built a very loving, comfortable community and I appreciate every single one of you for that. Thi is not the end for any of us in the music world and we would love to have your support in future endeavors.

Oh, Weatherly—Roses, guitarists Angel Bedoy and Reece Alan, drummer Colton Lakey and bassist Beau Harris—released their debut full-length, Lips Like Oxygen, via Hopeless Records in 2018. The LP followed two EPs, Long Nights And Heavy Hearts and Make You Bright.

The trio also released Lips Like Oxygen Reimagined this year, offering reworks of three tracks from the album. You can see their video for “Without My Ring (I Think I Want You)” from this release below.
