'Pacific Rim' sequel release date revealed

You know Pacific Rim—that awesome science fiction robot monster film directed by Guillermo del Toro from 2013? Well, it's getting a sequel, and the release date has been revealed.

Pacific Rim 2, according to the Verge, will premiere February 23, 2018.

The Verge also noted the delay in this release date: Originally, the film was supposed to drop in April 2017 but has continuously been pushed back, making its fate appear bleak. However, this February, del Toro gave his blessing to Steven S. DeKnight, Daredevil's head writer, to take over the directing role.

Star Wars' John Boyega was cast as the star of the forthcoming action film. The first Pacific Rim starred Charlie Hunnam.
