Do you remember the lyrics to “Ain’t It Fun” by Paramore?

Seven years ago, Paramore unleashed their self-titled record on the world. The followup to 2009’s Brand New Eyes was kickstarted with the attention-grabbing “Now” and the impossibly infectious “Still Into You.” Following the album’s debut, the band kept it rolling with “Daydreaming” and the (literally) record-breaking “Ain’t It Fun.”

Celebrate the anniversary of the album and see if you can remember the lyrics to their Grammy-winning breakout single below.

More on Paramore and “Ain’t It Fun”

Back in 2013, Paramore scrapped the first concept for the “Ain’t It Fun” video with Hayley Williams explaining the band weren’t happy with the direction it was going.

“Turns out, the process of making and completing this video has been well, not fun. ZING!” Williams wrote in a blog post. “To keep things short and BS free, we were not happy with where this video was headed and ultimately, made the decision to pull it.”

The news came after the band had already teased a behind-the-scenes shot from the set. Instead, they shifted to a live video for “Daydreaming.”

Williams further elaborated on the importance of making the right video, continuing with the topic in the band’s blog.

“No one is more anxious than us to have the right music video for “Ain’t It Fun,” she says. “It’s one of our favorite Paramore songs to date and when the time comes, it’s going to have a video worthy of that sentiment.”

A few months later, Paramore finally shared the new video featuring the band trying to break world records on camera.

Paramore secured the fastest time to smash 30 clocks with guitars, most feathers caught in 30 seconds, most vinyl records broken in one minute and longest time spinning a record on one finger. In turn, they actually snagged an additional one for most records broken in a music video with 10.

Shortly after the video’s release, the Paramore single debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 96 in March 2014. The track maintained a 24-week stretch on the chart, peaking at No. 10 in May. Over the next two months, the single was quickly certified gold and then platinum. It recently became three times multi-platinum in March 2019.

In 2015, Paramore secured their fourth Grammy Awards nomination as “Ain’t It Fun” was up for Best Rock Song. The group won, making Williams the first female artist to snag the award since Alanis Morissette did so with “Uninvited” in 1999.

The previous year, Paramore were nominated at the first Alternative Press Music Awards snagging five nominations including Artist Of The Year, Album Of The Year for Paramore and Best Vocalist. In 2015, Williams earned another Best Vocalist nomination and won. You can see her acceptance speech here.
