Fans of controversial YouTuber deface World War II memorial

A New York City World War II memorial has been defaced multiple times by someone attempting to get people to subscribe to the controversial YouTuber PewDiePie.

Recently, fans of PewDiePie have been pushing others to subscribe to the YouTuber in an effort to make sure he continues being the number one most-subscribed personality on YouTube. In doing so, fans have begun promoting PewDiePie on multiple platforms, on and off-line.

However, PewDiePie’s rise on the platform has not come without some major eyebrow-raisers. In the past, PewDiePie has been known to use the “n-word” and make anti-Semitic jokes.

Currently, while the YouTuber is in the number one spot, he is constantly competing with T-Series, a music streaming channel. Both channels have over 88 million subscribers. At the time of press, T-Series is only trailing by a few thousand users.

However, many people think fans’ latest effort to make sure PewDiePie stays on top has gone a little too far.

That said, the Brooklyn War Memorial was defaced a total of three times with the words “subscribe to PewDiePie.” The tool used to vandalize the memorial was chalk. You can check out the damage to the memorial for yourself below.

According to BuzzFeed, the memorial honors “heroic men and women of the borough of Brooklyn who served in World War II.”

However, park officials were able to quickly remove the graffiti.

Even so, fans of the YouTuber are asking him to talk about the incident.
