Pixies announce pre-tour warmup show, will debut new bassist Paz Lenchantin

Pixies have announced a show in their home state of Massachusetts, this Monday, Jan. 13, at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton, which will serve as a warmup for their lengthy North American tour. That tour, which kicks off Jan. 15 in Toronto, is set to feature new bassist Paz Lenchantin, who will make her debut on Monday.

Mark Mulcahy, formerly of Miracle Legion, will open in Northampton, while FIDLAR, Cults, and Best Coast have been tapped to open for the tour proper.

Lenchantin replaces Kim Shattuck, whose short-lived stint in the band followed the departure of founding member Kim Deal.

Pixies kicked off 2014 with a surprise new EP, EP-2, their second in just six months after a 22-year break from recording (the band have been active on the tour circuit, and have released one-off singles in recent years, however). Along with EP-2, Pixies released a music video for “Blue Eyed Hexe,” marking their seventh video release in a seven month period. Check it out below:
