PlayStation network servers go down, leaves gamers offline

Even though hours have passed since initial reports of the outage came through, the network still seems to be down.

Users attempting to access the network status page on their systems were met with a message warning them of difficulties signing in.

“You may have some difficulty signing in or creating an account on PlayStation Network. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience,” the message reads.

Not only are gamers having trouble connecting their consoles to the internet, the system won’t even allow them to sign on. The issues are reportedly affecting both PlayStation 4 and PS3 owners.

This means that due to its dependence on a wifi connection, owners won’t be able to play some games offline. Services such as PlayStation Video, the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Music are also experiencing issues.

Although Sony shared a response to PlayStation owners that “some users” are experiencing difficulties, the support tweet has amassed over 6.2 thousand replies, with no indication of the network being fixed.

“We’re aware that some users are experiencing issues logging into PSN. Thank you for your patience as we investigate,” the tweet reads.

According to the outage tracking site Downdetector, the server issues are mostly happening in Europe. This could be due to the time difference, with Europe being in the evening.
