See Poppy’s ominous music video for industrial new single “Church Outfit”

Following plenty of teasing, Poppy has returned spectacularly with her first single of the year, “Church Outfit.”

“This is the dress I want to be buried in,” Poppy declares in the track’s opening lines as dark electronics throb alongside her vocals. The song also comes with a black-and-white music video that feels more ominous than ever, with Poppy performing striking choreography against thundering, Nine Inch Nails-inspired pomp. “Church Outfit” marks her first single since rejoining Sumerian Records, where she released two albums — 2020’s breakout I DISAGREE and 2021’s FLUX — as well as her EAT (NXT SOUNDTRACK) EP. The new single follows her 2022 EP Stagger, where she delved into punk, electronic, and trip-hop influences.

“The only thing more exciting than signing an iconic artist for the first time is signing them again, when they choose to return home. Poppy is a pioneer and lover of music, film, pro-wrestling, the unorthodox and the avant-garde. That is why I believe Sumerian is still the best label in the world for her. We are thrilled to have her back,” label founder Ash Avildsen shares in a press statement.
