Mike Posner resumes cross-country trek after snake bite hospitalization

Mike Posner is on the road again, and no it’s not a tour. Posner continues his walk across America today, Aug. 28.

After a rattlesnake bite derailed his plans for three weeks and hospitalized him for five days, Posner is starting back at the spot exactly where he was bitten.

Posner shared a video on Instagram today that shows him standing in what appears to be the middle of nowhere.

“Three weeks ago I was bit right here… by a fucking rattlesnake,” Posner says in an Instagram video. “I thought it wasn’t going to be that big a deal… ended up I was in the hospital for five days, three in the ICU.”

Posner appears chipper as ever though and seems pumped to get back to his trek.

“Now it’s time to finish my fucking walk across America. That’s not gonna stop me. Let’s fucking go! Let’s fucking go!”

The full Instagram video can be viewed below.

Posner’s journey started on Apr. 15 in Asbury Park, New Jersey. He posted a kickoff Instagram video on Apr. 7 detailing his plans.

Using his Instagram to document his walk, Posner has been sharing updates with fans and friends, inviting them to walk with him on his adventure.

Drew Binsky met up with Posner in May to find out exactly what inspired him to take this long walk across America.

“It was something that I put off for a long time,” Posner explains. “I wanted to do it for five years and it wasn’t really until after my dad died, and really when my friend Avicii died that I knew… My life is now, one day I’m gonna die too. And everyone wants you to forget you’re gonna die, cuz if you forget you’re gonna die then you’ll waste your life working for their company, spending money on what they’re selling.”

And the most rewarding part of his journey so far?

“The people I’ve met, you know? People walk with me pretty much every day.”

The journey hasn’t been easy, but Posner is hoping to spread a message to those who walk with him.

“You don’t have to play by the rules. I’m supposed to record an album, tour the album, record another album, tour the album. Yeah, I just said screw it, I’m gonna go walk across America you know? [Laughs.] Lots of people tried to tell me not to do it, it was a bad idea, it’s not good for my career, this and that. But there’s never a good time to do what you want to do, you know? Life is now. If you close your eyes, take a deep breath, and you open them back up… this is your life. This is it. I think my biggest message would be, life is now.”
