Post Malone's Grammys spot will be seasoned with Chili Peppers

Far from the depths of SoundCloud obscurity, Post Malone is tabbed to perform at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards next month. And we’re just now learning that he’ll have a whole band of collaborators on the Grammys stage with him.

The Recording Academy reveals that none other than Red Hot Chili Peppers will join Posty in his Grammys performance. At the same time, the Academy newly announces Brandy Carlile, Miley Cyrus and H.E.R. as Grammy performers.

The news comes after a photo of singer Rita Ora was confused with Post Malone by The Hollywood Reporter. Ora pictured in a convincing Posty disguise, the entertainment news outlet presented the image as a bona fide shot of the latter.

And even though it’s being called “music’s dumbest night” by Consequence of Sound, it all goes down at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 10. Post Malone and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ performance will come alongside previously announced performances from Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Dan + Shay, Shawn Mendes, Janelle Monáe and Kacey Musgraves. The annual music award show airs at 8 p.m EST on CBS.

To be hosted by Alicia Keys, the 61st Grammys include nominations for some of our favorite artists such as twenty one pilots and Bring Me The Horizon, in addition to Posty and more. Plus, Fever 333, Greta Van Fleet and Halestorm have been nominated for Best Rock Performance, and Underoath is up for best metal performance.

Which bodes well for rock’s seeming slide in the Academy’s purview, even though TØP’s Trench didn’t get a nom this year. Will you be tuning into watch the Grammys next month? Sound off down in the comments section, below.
