Post Malone “I love grapes” origin revealed after sparking AMAs meme
With his award in hand, the rapper took the stage Sunday night to thank his fans. At the ending of his speech, Malone declared "I love grapes" followed by a roar from the crowd. The unusual remark left the internet questioning and meme-ready. You can watch his full speech below as well as a few reactions to his win.
Thank you very, very, very, very, very much. I’m not too good at talking in front of people but I just want to say thank you so much to everybody who showed love and support. Honestly words cannot express how grateful and thankful I am for everything that ya’ll have shown me. I just want to say thank you to everybody on the camp and on the team. Thank you to all the fans for showing love and support. We busted our ass for it so it, you know, feels good to, you know, walk away. We love you very much and I love grapes. Thank you so much.
The artist's father Rich Post took to Twitter to declare that there was a back story to the grapes comment while shooting down theories.
Now, according to Variety, the “I love grapes” line apparently came from a comment Posty made after entering his dressing room trailer, where he found grapes among the options that had been chosen for catering.
