See for yourself why Puddle Of Mudd’s Nirvana cover is getting attention

Most people have forgotten about Puddle Of Mudd by now, but the world is giving them attention once again for a Nirvana cover that’s shockingly bad.

The band made a stop by SiriusXM Octane recently for an acoustic performance of “About A Girl” and it’s gone viral for being so awful sounding that it’s hard to tell if they were serious.

Puddle Of Mudd have had a rough go over the past several years, through numerous public scandals relating to frontman Wes Scantlin. Luckily, Scantlin has cleaned up his act and the band have been able to continue on without any issues relating to substance abuse getting in the way. It’s, very honestly, a really great thing to see especially for any Puddle Of Mudd fans.

Now, they’re still being made fun of on the internet but this time it’s for something that’s difficult to even begin describing.

In case it’s hard to tell while watching this cover, Scantlin’s voice did get a lot of comparisons to Kurt Cobain when the band were in their heyday. You’d be hard-pressed to say that seriously from watching this video though. Check it out below.

Now, there’s a lot of things to point out with this.

At the time of writing, the video has 13,000 dislikes to 1900 likes which clearly points out how most feel watching this. It has racked up over 700,000 views on YouTube so far too.

While watching the video, it’s hard not to notice how the other band members are reacting while performing. Their drummer seems to stare at the ground the entire time as if he can’t bear to look at the cameras. The other guitarist seems happy to just smile away and play his parts while everything else is happening. But, best of all, their bassist just stares down Scantlin for the majority of the clip like he knows how awful the cover is turning out.

The comments were pretty blunt on the performance. One user wrote “I like the part where there’s no singing…” while another wrote “The whole band looks like they’re trying not to laugh. Poor guy…”

It’s a truly spectacular way to kill a bit of time while we’re all stuck at home.

In case you want to cleanse your ears after listening to that, you can check out Nirvana playing the track below.
