More on Waterparks

Last weekend, Waterparks sent fans into a frenzy with an announcement teasing something for Monday. It was accompanied by a duck emoji, which quickly sparked theories about ducks, Otto’s shirt and more.

Today, we finally have what we’ve all been waiting for as the band announce their new album FANDOM and unveil a brand-new track.

It all began Saturday afternoon when Waterparks revealed something would be happening at 7 p.m. Unfortunately, the announcement merely lead to another announcement, this time teasing something for Monday. Vocalist Awsten Knight pushed the teaser even further on his Instagram.

The band finally dropped “Watch What Happens Next” with an accompanying music video (directed by Knight himself) which you can watch here. The excitement didn’t stop there as the band followed up “Watch What Happens Next” with the promise of another new song.

However, we didn’t have to wait until Thursday after all to hear the brand-new track “Dream Boy.” In what should no longer come as a surprise, the band teamed up with SiriusXM to strike a deal and create another trending hashtag.

After promising fans a No. 1 trend with #FANDOM would get them the new track this Thursday, they struck a deal with SiriusXM to drop it a day early. The station agreed to the trending hashtag terms, creating a #DREAMBOYonHITS1 just for the occasion.

Fans were then given the challenge of pushing the hashtag into the top 5 trending topics on Twitter. Within 10 minutes, #DREAMBOYonHITS1 was trending at No. 7. Still, that wasn’t good enough. Fans came through a short while later, snagging the top 5 spot.

However, Waterparks were ready to keep the momentum going. After reaching the No. 4 trending topic, Waterparks agreed to drop the track Wednesday.

Parx will debut their third album FANDOM Oct. 11. You can snag your preorder here.
