The Recording Academy has announced several new awards for the 2023 Grammys. This follows the addition of the Best Global Music Performance and Best Música Urbana Album awards in 2022.

The five new awards are Best Spoken Word Poetry Album, Best Alternative Music Performance, Best Americana Performance, Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media and Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical.

The Academy also changed the rules regarding album eligibility. To be eligible, more than 75% of a project’s content must be newly recorded or previously unreleased recordings. In the past, the Academy only required that 50% of an album’s content meet that requirement.

The 65th annual Grammy Awards ceremony will return to Los Angeles Jan. 31 after the awards ceremony’s relocation to Las Vegas in 2022.
