A Mountain Dew margarita is now a thing thanks to Red Lobster

As if 2020 wasn’t already weird enough, Red Lobster is taking things to a whole new level.

This week, the restaurant franchise announced its new “Dew Garita,” a Mountain Dew margarita.

A lot of restaurant chains have been rolling some odd alcoholic beverages lately. Most recently, Taco Bell announced its new Jalapeno Noir wine in Canada. The red wine is to be paired with its new Toasted Cheesy Chalupa.

Now, Red Lobster is launching the perfect drink for all of you Mountain Dew fanatics out there. The “Dew Garita” is literally a Mountain Dew margarita. The new drink is in collaboration with the seafood chain and Pepsi-owned beverage.

According to the press release, the carbonated cocktail pairs perfectly with Red Lobster’s iconic cheddar bay biscuits. As well, the recipe is reportedly top secret so recreating this drink at home may be a challenge.

Red Lobster’s Senior Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer Nelson Griffin hints that the Dew Garita is one of many “inspired menu items to come.”

“Red Lobster is thrilled to work with PepsiCo, not only because it has a great portfolio of brands, but specifically because of the food and beverage innovation possibilities,” Griffin says. “The Dew Garita is the first delicious taste of the types of inspired menu items to come.”

Based on the photo, the DewGarita has Mountain Dew’s signature neon green color. The cocktail is also finished off with a salted rim and lime wedge.

Along with the new cocktail, Red Lobster locations will now have other Pepsi products including Bubly sparkling water, LIFEWTR and Tropicana.

The Dew Garita, the first cocktail from Mountain Dew, arrives at select Red Lobster locations later this month. It is expected to be available at all locations nationwide by the end of 2020.

Naturally, the internet has A LOT of thoughts about this new cocktail.
