Teenage Head With Marky Ramone

[4/5]

Almost 30 years after their debut album, the notion of the early Canadian punkers releasing re-records of their favorite catalog rockers could have easily been an exercise in mid-life crisis-yet, somehow, Teenage Head With Marky Ramone breathes with an honest energy. In the same way that the Buzzcocks continue to just flat-out rock, there is an authenticity to Teenage Head’s simplistic bashing made even more palatable by the recruitment of one of their obvious influences, and also Ramones producer, Daniel Rey. It’s more laid back and textbook than earlier ripping live bootlegs of the band, and certainly less intense than even the latter day incarnations of Marky & Co., but what’s cool is that “Teenage Beer Drinkin’ Party” could still be the soundtrack to one-just maybe for the band’s kids.
