Sadaharu

Resist. Revolt. Reclaim.

[3.5/5]

As anyone who’s ever seen them before will readily testify, Lancaster, Pennsylvania’s Sadaharu are an amazing live band. Unfortunately, their studio recordings never quite captured the band’s iconoclastic energy-until now, that is. Sure, Resist. Revolt. Reclaim.’s unwieldy song titles may read like the names of Noam Chomsky essays (see: “A Treatise On The Bankrupt Nature Of The Current Zeitgeist”), but despite the band’s intellectual bent, at their core Sadaharu are a riff-driven rock band that blend the vitriol of Refused with the feel of AC/DC to create a post-everything amalgam that’s just as apt to make listeners dance as it is inspire them to smash the system. Admittedly, the piano at the interlude may initially seem like a sonic non sequitur (“Gunpowder, Treason And Plot [Reprise]),” but after 34 minutes of rocking this hard and heavy, even the listener needs a chance to catch their breath.
