Apollo Sunshine

[4]The members of Apollo Sunshine all went to Berklee College Of Music, and it shows. Their harmonies are perfectly in tune; their chops are impeccable; and their arrangements are patently professional. However, Apollo Sunshine is anything but academic. A far better representation of the band’s live show than 2003’s Katonah, Apollo Sunshine runs the gamut of rock music from Wilco-esque (“A Finger Pointing At The Moon”) to boxcar blues (“Today Is The Day”) to the, well, just plain weird (“Phony Maroney” was inspired by a dance move the band created). But regardless of what subgenre they are tackling, the common thread here is that the band are clearly having fun romping through these 13 tracks-and what Apollo Sunshine may lack in cohesion, it more than makes up for in spirit.
