Living With Lions

Dude Manor EP

[3.5/5]

Having already pounded the shit out of the pavement from one end of Canada to the other, Vancouver’s Living With Lions are finally ready to unleash the fury south of the border thanks to the backing of Billie Joe Armstrong’s Adeline Records. The Green Day connection is a good place to start, as Dude Manor, the band’s debut EP (initially released in Canada in 2007), is full of earnest and catchy pop-punk that hearkens back to some of the Bay Area’s finest. There’s more early Saves The Day and Lifetime than anything else in this fast and furious batch of songs, and while that might sound sonically limiting, the band’s energy and creativity within the genre lifts Dude Manor above the hardcore-influenced pop-punk throng. Just wait until their full-length drops. (ADELINE, adelinerecords.net) Sam Sutherland
