Let’s hope that bands like Duck Duck Goose and Eatmewhileimhot! haven’t started a whole new subgenre with this joke-metalcore business. Because, really, there’s only enough room in the world for two, maybe three bands who spew out this pre-pube, goofball metalcore. That said, this small-town California band somehow manage to be endearing in their own spastic, annoying way. Like little kids having temper tantrums while listening to Cannibal Corpse, Every Time I Die and Primus records (in which particular order, we haven’t a clue), the boys in Duck Duck Goose manage to annihilate all levels of decency, intelligent lyrics and slap bass. It’s clear that they’re just fucking around here; songs like “I Came, Come” and “Shit Storm” aren’t exactly about achieving world peace or anything, and that’s fine. The more this band embrace their complete idiocy, the funnier and better they become. Sure, it’s a mess, but it’s the kind of mess that makes you shake your head and puts a smirk on your face. Those crazy kids!
