Night Argent expand on infectious rock sound for The Fear EP
Night Argent
The Fear EP
FILE UNDER: Pop-Rock Anthems
ROCKS LIKE: Imagine Dragons, AWOLNATION, X Ambassadors
WHAT'S DIFFERENT: Pasco, Washington, four-piece Night Argent’s sophomore EP expands on the infectious rock sound presented in their 2016 self-titled debut. Lead vocalist Chase Manhattan offers a unique kind of flow on the opening “Mannequin,” setting precedent for much stronger and emotionally-driven vocals throughout the EP that mixes pop tunes (“The Fear”) with heavier rock-based anthems (“Dreamcatcher”).
WHY YOU SHOULD CARE: Produced in part by John Feldmann, the 2014 Ernie Ball Battle Of The Bands winner’s latest is a giant leap forward that thankfully doesn’t fall flat. The fine-tuned advancements successfully fill the room with a pop-rock blend (best summed up on the drum-heavy “Heartbeat”) that would make the smallest club show feel like an arena, thanks to the band’s unique twist on an upbeat sound complete with driving rock undertones.
OUR PICK: “Heartbeat”
