Smoke Or Fire - Prehistoric Knife Fight EP

Prehistoric Knife Fight EP

Continuing where 2007's This Sinking Ship left off, Smoke Or Fire bang out two new songs of throbbing, melody-soaked punk rock. They don't shoot for the stars or strive to make grand artistic statements. This is proletarian punk, made by four dudes holing up in a room together (that likely smells like an unholy concoction of sweat, beer and used musical gear) and cranking out energetic jams. Though hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Smoke Or Fire sound every bit the East Bay band. Fifteen and Jawbreaker did the same thing nearly two decades ago. Yet SOF do rugged pop-punk well enough to sound fresh and invigorating. Best of all, Prehistoric Knife Fight is a two-song 7-inch. More bands should heed the example and utilize the shorter format to put their best foot forward. It leaves the listener wanting more and right now, we want more.
