Glancing over some of the lyrics on the debut album from Daniel Hunter, aka PlayRadioPlay!, one might wonder whether the Disney Channel might be a better fit for his electro-pop than Island Records-particularly the song “I’m A Pirate, You’re A Princess,” in which Hunter yelps about playing dress-up and sailing the Seven Seas, a sentiment best suited to 12-year-old Hannah Montana fans. The music itself, which Hunter constructs with computer software and the occasional organic instrument, sounds a bit like the Postal Service’s younger, ADD-addled sibling, except that most of the songs are more likely to get you dancing than moping. Being that Hunter snagged a record deal before a high school diploma, the tender immaturity of the music isn’t surprising, nor is it necessarily that disappointing. The key demographic might just be a few years younger than Island seems to assume. (ISLAND) Emily Zemler
