Who Killed Harry Houdini?

[3.5/5]

Little more than a year after charming the blogging elite, I’m From Barcelona-a 20-plus-member collective with no actual ties to the Spanish city-have already moved on from the instantly infectious sense of fun that made the better cuts on Let Me Introduce My Friends so damn endearing. But the more reflective mood of “Andy” suits them. It’s not as though they’ve turned their backs completely on the quirks that brought them this far. In the wistful leadoff single “Paper Planes,” lead singer Emanuel Lundgren checks in on the strangers surrounding him, from the young couple honing their baby-making skills upstairs to the “big old man in his underpants” practicing clarinet. Elsewhere, Lundgren celebrates the healing power of his headphones and hopes he doesn’t scare you in the title role of the suitably haunting “Little Ghost.” (MUTE) Ed Masley
