I Am Ghost

Those We Leave Behind

[2/5]

There was a time not so long ago when I Am Ghost sent more than a few listeners scrambling for black eyeliner and their best Davey Havok threads. Truth be told, IAG do the whole goth-punk/screamo mopester thing pretty well-at least as well as Aiden and Sonny Moore-era From First To Last-but why keep whacking on that same, tired, old nag? The band’s sophomore full-length, Those We Leave Behind, sounds like a collage of groups you’ve heard more than a few times before, from the aforementioned to AFI, the Used and even Avenged Sevenfold. Yet none of IAG’s own songs have the same impact as their influences. (Hell, try to get through the obligatory Tim Burton-esque intro without chuckling too hard.) A bowl of Count Chocula is more spooky than this record. (EPITAPH) Brendan Manley
