Inside Jokes For Outside Folks

[1/5]

Former Hawthorne Heights bassist Nick Testa currently can be found guitar-teching for bands like HH, Punchline and Say Anything. But when he’s not busy tuning strings, he apparently records painfully unfunny, dragging electro-emo-pop songs. Nightbeast’s debut aims for some sort of cute humor attained by acts like Hellogoodbye and early Reggie And The Full Effect but fails miserably, saved neither by Testa’s questionably clever wordplay ("Reflux Capacitor"), awful white-boy rap ("Intuit? I’m Into It!"), nor guest spots by members of the bands he’s worked with. Inside Jokes For Outside Folks isn’t even unintentionally funny; it’s just embarrassing. The only bit of redeeming value is Testa’s sweet, grizzly beard. Don’t quit your day job, dude. (THRIVING) Brian Shultz
