Her Space Holiday

XOXO, Panda And The New Kid Revival

[3.5/5]

While there has certainly been no absence of cute indie rock in the world recently, there’s something to be said for doing it well. On his latest album, Marc Bianchi-aka Her Space Holiday-has thrown his former electronic tendencies out the window in exchange for organic folk-pop that doesn’t mind getting downright adorable. Thankfully, this sweetness is more honest than sickening, and as Bianchi flows in and out of subgenres he consistently demonstrates knowing how to write a song that can brighten your day. Although the lyrics run the gamut of emotions, XOXO, Panda And The New Kid Revival sounds almost universally upbeat, save a few darker moments. Her Space Holiday could be the next Eels if Bianchi broadens his musical palette. For now, this is a great record for staring out the window of a train on a sunny winter day. (MUSH) Luke Jaxon
