Hello, Dear Wind

[4/5] No, it isn’t déja vu and no you’re not reading this wrong. It’s almost fall, and not only is Page France releasing an album the same time as last year, it’s the same record. Well, sort of, except this re-release version of Hello, Dear Wind is the spiritual-folk auteurs’ debut on Suicide Squeeze. Frontman Michael Nau mines heartsy theological themes, spinning them into righteous folk yarn that contemplates Jesus, the afterlife and thankfulness. That’s not to say Nau is the next David Bazan; think more Sufjan Stevens, less Michael W. Smith. Bottom line: Page France are making pseudo-Christian folk cool again and we think it’s a sign. This is still a great record; snatch it up if you missed it the first time around. (SUICIDE SQUEEZE) Casey Lynch
