The End

The End

Elementary

[4/5] If this is what the end of the world is going to sound like, then bring on the apocalypse. Every bit as relentless and cataclysmic as you’d expect the fall of man to be, the End’s third album, Elementary, brings a very dynamic approach to their punishing sound. Superlatives aside, the End have crafted quite an epic (okay, one more) hour of music that’s not content to toil around in one place. Instead, vocalist Aaron Wolf is able to use his talents for singing and screaming alike, remarkably never sounding contrived on either. Be it the all-out blitz of “Animals” or the more subdued energy of “The Moth And I,” this five-piece have it all together. Whether the guitars swell or shred, whether the drums pound or perpetrate a gorgeous echo on Wolf’s soulful delivery, the result is the same-grandeur. (RELAPSE) Jordan Rogowski
