Bullet Train To Vegas

We Put Scissors Where Our Mouths Are

[4] Bullet Train To Vegas cram more action into a three-minute space on We Put Scissors Where Our Mouths Are than some bands do with an entire album. However, how successfully the results translate depends on which trick the band employ to turn their wild arrangements into songs. The dramatic-pause-before-exploding-into-a-completely-different-direction technique is used quite a few times, but that isn’t nearly as effective as when the band just go straight from first to fifth gear. When that happens, as on “And Sorrow’s Native Son,” everything blurs into a harrowing flurry that would make even the Blood Brothers envious. (NITRO) Michael Coyle
