the Receiving End Of Sirens

The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi

[4/5]

It’s amazing how many different versions of this exact same densely layered, heavily produced sound-effects-and-swirling-guitar emo-rock we can listen to before it gets old. You’re probably in the same boat. Are we mental? Nonetheless, this is exactly the type of heroic, heart-on-sleeve, teenage-anthem rock you’ll want to blast in your car when you’re on the way out to stand around a sweaty room with a tiny T-shirt on. Shimmering harmonies, gutsy vocal straining that verges toward a scream, atmospheric breakdowns meant to indicate songwriting maturity, call-and-response shoutouts, rolling storms of distortion and woe-is-me handwringing. The Receiving End Of Sirens add absolutely nothing new to the formula we’ve come to know and love, and that’s pretty much perfect-you can’t fix a formula that’s already this awesome.
