The Kris Norris Projekt

The Kris Norris Projekt

Icons Of The Illogical

[1/5}

The issue with vanity projects is that the project is typically outshone by the vanity. So when former Darkest Hour guitarist Kris Norris left the band to pursue production and ended up recording his own solo project full of metal-guitar posturing, it’s hard to tell what makes the album stand out from the rest of the instrumental, progressive metal pack. The talent is there, sure, but with guest vocals from Lamb Of God’s Randy Blythe on only two songs, the rest of the album relies on rehashed chord progressions strung together between soloing. Lost somewhere between Scandinavian power metal without broadswords and modern metalcore without an edge, one must assume Norris had way more fun recording this album than anyone ever will have listening to it.
