Eliot Lipp

Peace Love Weed 3D

[3.5/5]

Analog-obsessed Eliot Lipp is back. Released on his own label, Old Tacoma, Peace Love Weed 3D adds a new element to Lipp’s sound: guitar. Teaming up with studio guitarists on several tracks, Lipp perfectly combines his thick synth sound with the strings, giving more depth to an aesthic that was pretty deep to begin with. “Yeah” starts off things with a head-nodding beat and a slinky guitar line that fuse elements of funk, old-school R&B and hip-hop-if you don’t groove to this, you may be dead. On the disco-inspired “PLW3D,” Lipp proves the genre actually can be good if done correctly. Of course, not all of Peace is for everyone, but beat-heads and synth fiends will feel right at home with Lipp’s latest trippy opus. (OLD TACOMA; oldtacomarecords.com) Eddie Fleisher
