The Sound Of Human Lives

Something’s gotten into the bonnets of Therefore I Am on their debut full-length, The Sound Of Human Lives. The Boston emocore band have transcended that particular tag, recording an emotionally targeted record that does their hardcore hometown proud and may even have some listeners calling for a revolution this summer. Okay, they aren’t the second coming of Rites Of Spring, and the “emo” sound has mutated beyond recognition since the mid-’80s, but Therefore I Am succeed in bringing back memories of hearts on sleeves and the do-it-together aesthetic. The downside: The Sound Of Human Lives gets a little samey around the eighth track, with the final third of the disc lagging. The exception is the particularly harrowing album closer “You Leave.”
