'Riverdale' cast tease tragedy, "more than just a drama" in 'Carrie' episode

Riverdale's musical episode has been long-awaited by fans, and the cast is now teasing more than just a creepy musical—they're teasing a tragic turn of events, too.

Entertainment Weekly shared a sneak peek, and everything seems calm, happy and pretty lovey-dovey from our two favorite couples.
But the episode is going to take a turn for the worse…
As ComicBook.com reports, AJ Apa—aka Archie Andrews—said: “The drama of this episode is . . . more than just a drama.”
Cole Sprouse—aka Jughead Jones—adds: “It can be a breath of fresh air for people who have been watching a debilitating series of events for these characters. But we still find a way to pick you up and slam you back down.”
These are all convincing and terrifying, but Marisol Nichols—aka Hermoine Lodge—says we get to expect lots of blood. (As we should've known, of course!) “And it's Carrie. At the end of the day, you're going to see a bucket full of blood. I don't think it gets more tragic than that.”

As previously reported, the Stephen King-inspired musical episode, titled “A Night To Remember,” is set to be framed as a documentary by Jughead Jones.
The Riverdale High Drama Department (RHDD), in conjunction with the Lodge Family, is pleased to present as its Spring Production, “Carrie: The Musical,” a dark-yet-catchy cautionary tale exploring the gritty realities of small-town high school life. Future Tony Winner Kevin Keller helms as director, combining iconic elements from the novel, 1976 movie, 1988 Broadway production, 2012 Off-Broadway revival, and 2013 remake to create a retro-yet-timeless interpretation of Stephen King’s horror classic. Additionally, a behind-the-scenes documentary following the making of “Carrie: The Musical” will be filmed by student videographer and journalist Jughead Jones.
Oh, and Jughead won't be singing… But that almost seems fitting, right?
“When we really thought about the character of Jughead, he felt like the one character who probably wouldn’t be in the school musical,” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa previously explained. “When you see the episode, he’s very much an integral part of it, and he’s doing something quintessentially Jughead during the musical. Except he doesn’t sing.”
The episode is set to air April 18 at 8 p.m. and features 11 songs from the musical.
