Rob Zombie hopes to turn his iconic slasher film into a Broadway musical
Rob Zombie has expressed his interest in making his first film into a Broadway musical. While House of 1000 Corpses is generally regarded as a slasher disaster, Zombie believes its ridiculousness may be perfect for a theatrical performance on Broadway.
In an interview with Larry King, Zombie brought up his cult classic film after being asked if there was anything else in his life he wanted to do. Following that, Zombie gave us an answer we didn’t expect.
“As crazy as it sounds, I feel that my first film House of 1000 Corpses, which is kinda campy in a weird way, which is why at the time I wasn't that thrilled with it, I think would make a great Broadway musical,” Zombie says in a story with Movieweb. “Because it’s very much, when you go to Broadway now it's like Spider-Man, it's The Addams Family, it's Spamalot, you know? So that movie would translate well, I think because it’s just ridiculous.”

Despite House of 1000 Corpses originally tanking, the franchise became a staple in the horror/slasher genre. The franchise later adopted a sequel, The Devil’s Rejects in 2005. Additionally, the third installment, 3 From Hell is slated for release in 2019.
“So folks seem confused by my post saying I completed my Rejects trilogy,” Zombie says in an Instagram post. “I said the trilogy is complete but the movie 3 From Hell is not finished yet. Still got a couple months of work left.”
