Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony made a lot of changes. After postponing the initial ceremony, the event went virtual. As well, Rock Hall eliminated all scheduled performances.

Now, it looks like the Rock Hall will host an induction ceremony later this year. However, the Rock Hall plans to hold the 2021 in-person ceremony in a new venue.

Now, the Rock Hall has unveiled its plans for the 2021 induction ceremony. This week, it was confirmed that the 36th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is happening on Oct. 30. However, the event is moving to Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. The newly renovated building has increased space “to prioritize health and safety" as the Rock Hall plans to hold an in-person ceremony.

“We are honored to again host the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Cleveland," Rock Hall President and CEO Greg Harris says. "This year at the newly renovated Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. And to serve as the place for rock & roll fans around the world to connect and celebrate our Inductees all year long."

"Just Announced: The 36th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will return to Cleveland, Ohio on October 30, 2021, and for the first time, will be held at @RMFieldHouse."

For Dave Grohl, this is his second opportunity to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. In 2014, Grohl, Krist Novoselic and the late Kurt Cobain were officially inducted as Nirvana. Additionally, Grohl already knows which artist he wants to induct Foo Fighters into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Currently, voting is open for this year’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony. Voting officially closes on Apr. 30. Shortly after the 2021 nominations list was announced, that debate about genre sparked online again.
