There have certainly been plenty of rumors regarding a sequel to 1993’s cult hit Hocus Pocus. We at least got news that one is definitely happening. But will the trio of original Sanderson Sisters be present in the film?

According to Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and she would all still love to have a role in the sequel.

Back in October, it was reported that a sequel to the classic Halloween film was in production for Disney+. The rumor was confirmed the following month with Collider reporting that Workaholics writer Jen D’Angelo was writing the script.

Then, back in March, Variety reported that Hocus Pocus 2 would be directed by Adam Shankman. Shankman is best known for directing Hairspray and Rock Of Ages but also choreographed Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Catch Me If You Can and more.

It is also reported that the original cast of Midler, Parker and Najimy are not directly attached to the sequel but Disney is hopeful they would be involved in some capacity.

When the sequel was confirmed back in October, Parker posted a Halloween picture of the three Sanderson Sisters. A fan asked if she [Parker] would be reprising her role in the sequel, to which she responded, “We have all said yes. Now we wait.”

Midler also chatted about the sequel at the Hulaween event in NYC saying, ” “Oh my goodness me. Oh, I hope they get to me before I’m a corpse. We wanna fly again. I hope Disney Plus is a big success and I hope we get to do it, because [Winifred] is of course one of my favorite characters. I can’t wait to read the script. We’re gonna see what happens.”

Now, according to Sarah Jessica Parker, all three of them are still very interested in returning to the witchy roles.

Speaking on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy show on May 28, Parker was asked if she thought there would be a sequel to Hocus Pocus

“I think that it’s something that… Bette and Kathy and I are all very hospitable to the idea,” Parker said. “And I think for a long time people were talking about it as…if it had been, people were moving forward with it in a real way, but we were unaware of it. But I think now we’ve gotten to the point where we’ve all, we’ve agreed publicly to the right people, ‘Yes, that would be a very very fun idea.’ So we’ll see. We’ll see what the future holds.”
