Actor and original villain in the Scream horror franchise Matthew Lilliard confirmed that he is willing and ready to reprise his role as Stu Macher for Scream 5.

According to Digital Spy, the classic movies once directed by the late Wes Craven will now be taken over by Ready or Not's Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

In a recent interview with TooFab, Lillard was asked if he was open to returning to the franchise. "Yes, yes, I'm available, yes, yes," he said. "There's nobody that wouldn't want to come back and reprise a role they got to do when they were a boy and be able to do something different as a man would be exciting. You just don't get that opportunity often," he shared.

However, it might be a challenge for Lillard to return. After all, his character was supposedly killed at the end of Scream 1. A large television set fell on his head and electrocuted him.

The actor was originally supposed to appear in Scream 3 too, but the script was rewritten following the Columbine shootings.

"I'm not surprised that people still love to follow the journey of Sidney Prescott," Lillard said. "People love that story and root for her. It's kind of a really interesting ability to continue to tell a movie story over almost three generations."

Lillard shared that he would only want to return with his co-star Neve Campbell who played Sidney Prescott as "Neve is a voracious protector of Wes," he said.

In a Digital Spy interview, Campbell noted that she was nervous about a new installment of Scream at first.

"I got this really, really respectful letter from the directors of the new one," she said. "I had really thought that the only way I'd step into a new project with new directors is if they really wanted to honor him."

She has not officially signed on for the movie yet due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Though Lillard can't promise Stu Macher will return for Scream 5, it is confirmed that Ghostface will be making a return in the slasher series.
