We last heard from Against The Current in 2018 when they released their full-length album Past Lives. Featuring the hits “Voices,” “Strangers Again” and “Almost Forgot,” Past Lives marked a new era for the band as they experimented with their sound and introduced new influences.

Now, it looks like Against The Current are returning to their guitar roots for their new single “that won’t save us.” On Wednesday, they debuted the Matt Squire-produced song along with a powerful new video.

For this first single, Against The Current knew they wanted to kick-off the new era with a hard-hitting song. It was after frontwoman Chrissy Costanza faced various frustrations in her personal and professional life that “that won’t save us” came to be.

“We knew we wanted it to have a lot of energy,” she shares. “I had so much anger and frustration built up from my personal life and the business. A lot of confusion and passive-aggressive feelings were starting to boil over. The song points the finger right in your face and says, ‘What you’re doing right now isn’t going to save us. What do you want to do about it? Do you want to keep doing what you’re doing and know this is going to die? Or, are you ready to make a change?’”

The “that won’t save us” video shows Costanza reliving those built-up feelings again while trying to decide what she wants her future to be. In the end, the trio look on as what they’ve known goes up in flames.

The “that won’t save us” video is available to watch below.
