Simple Creatures are fed up in angsty anthem “Thanks, I Hate It”

Simple Creatures have dropped a new song “Thanks, I Hate It” that’s probably the angsty pop anthem ever.

Yesterday, the duo comprised of blink 182’s Mark Hoppus and All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth, dropped a teaser for the track that got us even more amped for the “Trash-Pop Bops.”

Now, the angsty song is out, with both Gaskarth and Hoppus sharing it to fans.

“Had a day in the studio where we were feeling bad about ourselves because SOME PEOPLE don’t appreciate angry synthesizers. Now we get to shake our hips to that neg energy in a healthy and productive way. Everybody wins,” Gaskarth wrote.

Hoppus decided to go with a zoomed-in photo of a mouth in his post about the track.

You can jam out to the new Simple Creatures song below while we all wait for the full EP to drop.

“Thanks, I Hate It” is the second song from the EP Everything Opposite, which was supposed to be out this summer. According to Reddit, Hoppus revealed via Instagram Live that the album won’t drop until October 11. That date has been confirmed in a press release from the band.

Gaskarth revealed that the reasoning for the delay of the album is because of a technical error.

“Had to push back our release date because skynet leaked the wrong artwork or some such but you can pre-order this sweet baby now!! Get it on Vinyl it warms the soul,” he wrote.

Prior to that, they dropped “Special” which was definitely worth the wait.

“Sometimes feeling okay starts at ‘fake it ’till you make it.’ It isn’t always clear what the road to recovery looks like, so you just get to walking and put a big dumb smile on your face and tell everyone it’s all good.

Life gets overwhelming and our baggage stacks up, but I’ve often found that for me, after a little bit of self-pity and wallowing in the misery, getting out and telling the world I’m A-OK kicks off as a positive process, allowing me to reset and focus on the upswing. Special is about wading through the lows, and for me personally, it’s about the spiral I tend to go into when the bad shit stacks up: I often become critical of myself, like, ‘how can you possibly feel this way when you’ve got so much good going on around you?’ And that adds guilt onto what I’m already feeling, and the snowball gets a little bit bigger. That was the genesis of ‘Special’… It’s about exploring self-sabotage, and the internal battle we often wage within ourselves when life gets a bit too heavy…

It’s about the lows, but it’s also about the struggle back to leveling out and the moment you say ‘fuck it all, it’s time to get better.’ Here’s to feeling good. Here’s to feeling special. Here’s to taking that small step in the right direction,” Gaskarth said about that track.
